Harden Lake via White Wolf Lodge

Northern Yosemite

Harden Lake, Tuolumne County, CA, United States

Overview

Harden Lake sits near the edge of decent down towards the eastern tip of Hetch Hetchy and the beginning of the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne River, nearly 3,000 feet below. Harden Lake is common sight for those travelling up or down the White Wolf trail from or to the Muir Gorge or Hetch Hetchy. The lake itself is not very impressive and usually sits in very low depth mid to end of summer. Early spring the lake and surrounding area can have quite a bit of residual snow from the prior winter so pay close attention of you loose sight of the trail under snow fields. Bears are also very common in this area due to the easy water source. There are no designated camp fire rings at Harden Lake, however camping is allowed. It would also be strongly advised to bring good amounts of mosquito spray if you plan on staying overnight in the area… Though it would be even more advised to just keep moving towards White Wolf or your main destination.
