Badger Pass Ski Area

Overview

Badger Pass Ski Area

Since 1935, Yosemite’s ski and snowboard area, Badger Pass Ski Area, has been a favorite family destination. The non-intimidating slopes and casual atmosphere of California’s first established ski resort make it perfect for beginning skiers. Badger Pass provides a fine setting for a fun family day in the snow and sunshine. And when you’re ready to relax and warm up, slide on over to the Lodge for a quick bite to eat, or enjoy the Sierra sunshine from the large deck looking out at the slopes.

Downhill skiing and snowboarding

This affordable full-service ski area is perfect for stress-free snow fun for all levels. Get equipment rentals, enjoy a friendly lesson with one of the ski school’s expert ski instructors, or try a few jumps in the terrain park. Badger Pass Ski Area offers a free shuttle bus service from many locations in Yosemite Valley. You can also conveniently purchase lift tickets online.

Cross Country Skiing

Badger Pass Ski Area’s Nordic Center takes you beyond the lift-served areas, and out to explore the park. There are 90 miles of marked trails to explore leading out through beautiful forest scenery and epic views of Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra. Classic and skate skiers will also enjoy 25 miles of groomed tracks, including those leading all the way to Glacier Point.

Rent classic, skate, or backcountry skis at the Cross Country Center across from the main lodge. The Cross Country Center also offers classic cross country, skate, and telemark ski lessons, as well as guided backcountry tours.

Snowshoeing

Badger Pass is also a great starting point for a snowshoe adventure. Snowshoeing is a fun and easy way to explore Yosemite’s winter scenery. Snowshoers are welcome on all the cross country ski trails (please stay to the far edges to preserve the cross-country ski track and the skating lane in the center of the trail), and rentals are available at the Cross Country Center. Sign up for a guided snowshoe trip to Dewey Point – one of the most popular winter destinations with a view looking down into Yosemite Valley, or explore by moonlight on one of the Full Moon Snowshoe walks.

Snow Tubing

While sledding is not allowed at the ski area, Badger Pass’ tubing hill provides snow sliding fun for the young and the young at heart.
