What to Know For Your Curry Village Reservations

Curry Village isn’t just a place to spend the night. It really is a village in the heart of Yosemite Valley. Shops, restaurants, a tour and activity desk where you can make reservations, bike rentals,  and even a swimming pool are all clustered within walking distance. Plus, from its location at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley, you will have incredible access to popular trailheads and epic scenery right from your doorstep.

As a whole Curry Village exudes a distinct close-to-nature campground vibe. While you many not share restrooms in some rooms and cabins with private baths, most units will require a short walk to a shared bathroom or the shower house. This is wonderful because every step outdoors opens you to the fresh air and unforgettable scenery of Yosemite National Park. It also means you should remember to pack a flashlight and put it somewhere convenient if you might need to step out at night.

During holidays and the peak summer season, all lodging units, from the standard hotel rooms to hard-sided cabins and canvas tent cabins, are often in high demand and sell out quickly. Curry Village cabin reservations become available a full year and a day in advance, so be sure to book early for popular holidays and peak summer season stays.

What to Bring When Staying at Curry Village?

Lodging at Curry Village includes small cabins with a private bathroom to rooms similar to a standard hotel room, most people enjoying Curry Village stay in tent cabins or small cabins that have a shared bath nearby. If that’s you, in addition to the standard Yosemite packing list, here are a few extras that you should consider bringing with you for the best experience.

  • Sleeping bag or comforter (even in summer). Pillows, sheets, and light blankets are provided, but especially if you tend to sleep cold, you might appreciate some extra warmth. Expect cool evenings and nights in Curry Village even when daytime highs are in the 80s or 90s.
  • Flashlight/headlamp/light source: Streetlights are few and far between when it comes to Yosemite National Park and a dedicated light source can be handy when your phone is running low because of all the pictures and video you took.
  • Shower shoes: if you are staying in a tent cabin or cabin with a shared bathroom bring sandals or flip flops to use for quick trips to the bathroom and in the community showers.
  • Food storage locker extras:
    • Plastic bins or food containers to keep your food locker organized
    • Padlock to keep those items extra secure (optional. Many people don’t.)
  • Ear plugs or white noise generators: tent cabins are not far apart, and everyone is on a slightly different schedule so ear-plugs or white noise generators may help for sensitive sleepers.
  • Power strip/power block: Some heated tent cabins have a one or two electrical outlets, but these are not always available. Plan ahead with a power-strip to charge devices in public places and a power pack to keep your electronics topped up in the interim.
  • Refillable water bottle: It can be nice to have some water available in your cabin. (Soda and other flavored drinks most go into the bear locker at night).
  • Non-electronic games/activities like books or cards: With electricity at a premium, you might enjoy having some quiet time entertainment like books or board games.
