| The Cold Canyon Trail begins off Highway 140 near El Portal, just minutes from the entrance to Yosemite National Park and to hotels in the Merced River Canyon. Set deep in a canyon, the trail meanders along a creek shaded with alder, maple, ash, oak and pine trees which are home to an abundance of wildlife. Remnants of old mining claims can be seen alongside the trail, which is an easy hike, beginning not far off the highway. Trail stewardship activities are no more than a mile or so from the trailhead. |
