Mariposa Butterfly Festival
May 3 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
$10
The Mariposa Butterfly Festival returns to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds on May 2–3, 2026, for a vibrant, family-friendly weekend celebrating nature, community, and the Sierra foothills. Festival hours are Saturday 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with a Friday night kickoff scavenger hunt on May 1 in downtown Mariposa.
One of the region’s largest annual events, the festival features live music, classic cars, monster trucks, bounce houses, pony and train rides, live butterfly releases, Jurassic Mariposa, Fairy Village, food vendors, and artisan merchants. Educational exhibits in Habitat Row highlight butterflies, pollinators, and local ecosystems, supporting the festival’s Butterfly Education Program, which provides hands-on learning opportunities for children throughout the year.
