SUMMARY:Mountains of Minerals Show
DESCRIPTION:The “Mountains of Minerals” show serves as a focal point to share mineral specimens from world-wide locations. Dealers from far and wide gather to share their knowledge and stock of minerals  and demonstrations of lapidary techniques are show highlights. \nThis show is one of a few Gem Shows in California at that time.  Mariposa is very near the geographic center of California\, convenient to the central San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite National Park. \n\nThe show includes a silent auction of jewelry\, rocks\, and minerals. Geode cutting is back again by popular demand.  There’s a large raffle. Local vendors will also be available with a variety of food items. \n

SUMMARY:Mariposa Butterfly Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Mariposa Butterfly Festival returns to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds on May 2–3\, 2026\, for a vibrant\, family-friendly weekend celebrating nature\, community\, and the Sierra foothills. Festival hours are Saturday 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.\, with a Friday night kickoff scavenger hunt on May 1 in downtown Mariposa. \nOne of the region’s largest annual events\, the festival features live music\, classic cars\, monster trucks\, bounce houses\, pony and train rides\, live butterfly releases\, Jurassic Mariposa\, Fairy Village\, food vendors\, and artisan merchants. Educational exhibits in Habitat Row highlight butterflies\, pollinators\, and local ecosystems\, supporting the festival’s Butterfly Education Program\, which provides hands-on learning opportunities for children throughout the year.

This annual pow wow\, will bring together the local communities for a weekend of celebrating the Native American culture\, song and dance. \nMost importantly\, the Pow Wow helps to fund the “Nellie Tucker Scholarship” for local Native American students to further their education through college. The pow wow and the scholarships are administered through committees under the American Indian Council of Mariposa County (AICMC). The AICMC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization administered by the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation.
