SUMMARY:Yosemite Conservancy - Yosemite Field School: Recovering Species
DESCRIPTION:Explore the remarkable comeback stories in Yosemite Valley like the California red-legged frogs and peregrine falcons. \n\n\nYosemite National Park is a place of resilience and renewal. On this two-day program guided by park biologists and a Yosemite Conservancy naturalist\, you’ll explore the remarkable comeback stories of the California red-legged frogs and peregrine falcons. Both species were absent from the park for decades and are now thriving with help from the Yosemite Conservancy\, park biologists\, climbers\, zoos\, and so many others.  Learn what led to the decline of these species and how they are reclaiming their places in the park. \nOn Friday\, after an indoor presentation learning about the amphibians of Yosemite and their decline and recovery story\, we hope to see tadpoles and adult frogs with the help of Rob Grasso\, Yosemite National Park’s aquatic ecologist\, and plan to release frogs into Yosemite Valley with staff from the San Francisco Zoo. On Saturday\, we’ll meet with the park’s raptor surveyor and look at peregrine eyries through spotting scopes. If we are lucky\, we’ll be able to see the peregrines on the cliffs as well. This program offers a rare opportunity to learn firsthand from experts about Yosemite’s recovering species and the hope they represent for our shared natural world.

SUMMARY:Yosemite Conservancy - Stewardship Series: Red-legged Frog Conservation
DESCRIPTION:Spend your Friday afternoon exploring the science and stories shaping Yosemite today. The Yosemite Conservancy Stewardship Series offers a unique opportunity to learn from experts through short\, topic-focused programs inspired by donor-funded projects. Each two-hour session highlights a different area of research\, restoration\, or stewardship — from meadow recovery and sequoia ecology to wildlife conservation and beyond.  \nMeet one of Yosemite’s comeback stories — the California red-legged frog\, a federally threatened species\, and one of three endangered amphibians in the park. Once gone from Yosemite\, these remarkable frogs are now thriving thanks to years of innovative science and collaborative work done by the National Park Service\, funded by YosemiteConservancy donors and other park partners.    \nThe Yosemite National Park aquatic wildlife branch has developed successful reintroduction methods (in collaboration with UC Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Zoo)\, making Yosemite the first place where this species and other endangered amphibians have been restored. Donors at Yosemite Conservancy have been key\, funding research and hands-on restoration that continues to support these efforts.  \nJoin this program to see how science\, creativity\, and conservation are working together to give Yosemite’s amphibians a leap toward a brighter future.  \n\n\n\nFor more information and to register click the link below!
