SUMMARY:Trail Stewardship
DESCRIPTION:To many\, a trailhead is just a place to park and start a hike\, but for Mariposa Trails it is the place where a relationship between the user and nature begins. Voluntourism is one way a visitor can enter this relationship of reciprocity. Through a mix of vacation travel\, volunteering and stewardship\, tourists explore new destinations and give back to the communities they visit. Mariposa Trails has crafted voluntourism adventures whereby travelers to Yosemite National Park can also opt to be “trail stewards” of nearby hiking trails\, creating a meaningful way to give back while visiting the Sierras and Yosemite National Park. \n  \n\n\n\nMarch 14 (SAT) to March 16 (MON)\n“Hites Cove”\nEVENT AVAILABLE\nClick Here\nmoderate\n\n\nSunday\, March 22\, 2026\nBishop Creek Trail\nEVENT AVAILABLE\nClick Here\ndifficult\n\n\nWednesday\, March 25\, 2026\nSavage-Lundy Trail\nEVENT AVAILABLE\nClick Here\ndifficult\n\n\nThursday\, April 16\, 2026\nCold Canyon Trail\nEVENT AVAILABLE\nClick Here\neasy\n\n\nThursday\, April 23\, 2026\nCold Canyon Trail\nEVENT AVAILABLE\nClick Here\neasy\n\n\nSaturday\, April 25\, 2026\nKistler Trail\nEVENT AVAILABLE\nClick Here\ndifficult\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Mariposa Trails - Cold Canyon Trail Voluntourism
DESCRIPTION:The Cold Canyon Trail begins off Highway 140 near El Portal\, just minutes from the entrance to Yosemite National Park and to hotels in the Merced River Canyon. Set deep in a canyon\, the trail meanders along a creek shaded with alder\, maple\, ash\, oak and pine trees which are home to an abundance of wildlife. Remnants of old mining claims can be seen alongside the trail\, which is an easy hike\, beginning not far off the highway. Trail stewardship activities are no more than a mile or so from the trailhead.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Our mission is to provide trail access and promote its use for adventure\, health\, stewardship\, education and community prosperity. Through respectful use\, be it hiking\, riding\, camping or trail-tending\, we embrace trails as gifts\, and in gratitude invite you to build comradery with one another and with nature.”
