Things to do for Young Adults in Mariposa County
The Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau invites all Mariposa County High School freshmen to put on their photojournalist hats and submit articles to showcase Things for Young Adults to Do in Mariposa County.
Winning entries receive an Amazon Gift card. All accepted participants in this event will be mentioned in the Mariposa Gazette, and accepted submissions will be featured in an article on Yosemite.com that could be seen by as many as 3 million visitors. Submitted entries will be judged by a panel and the top prizes include Amazon gift cards of $250 for first, $150 for second place and $100 for third place. Additional prizes will be awarded. Want to work together? Team submissions will be accepted as well, and prizes will be divided among the winning team.
Your assignment: Submit 2-5 high-resolution photographs of the place or thing to do, a 400 to 600-word article detailing why it’s great to experience as well as a short description (100 words max) of a fun thing for young adults to do in Mariposa County. Photographs should be in focus, well lit, and showcase an activity or place, anywhere in Mariposa County, that they are able to visit and enjoy. People in photos should not be recognizable. Please avoid including a person’s face in the photo. Tell us why this place is fun and worthwhile by writing a short article describing this fun thing to do.
Entry Requirements: Photographs must be digital, in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi), and clearly depict the subject matter. People in photos should not be recognizable and please avoid including faces in photos. Articles should include both a 400 to 600 words maximum story and a short 100-word description. The written story must describe the location, directions to get there, and reasons why other youth and families would enjoy this fun thing in Mariposa County, excluding Yosemite National Park. There is no limit to the number of entries per individual and you are encouraged to depict locations in our National Forests, public spaces, or anywhere your travels may take you within our “Mother of Counties”. The thing to do MUST be publicly accessible for visitors.
Submissions must be made online (at Yosemite.com/Grizzlies) and must include your name and age.
The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2021. Prize winners will be announced on or about March 1, 2021.
*By submitting photos and or articles to this contest you provide full consent for the Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau to use the submitted content on Yosemite.com, across all social media platforms, and in any marketing assets that the Tourism Bureau sees fit.
