2021 Mariposa Story Slam

2021 Mariposa Story Slam
4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The 2021 Mariposa Story Slam is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 4:00 PM outside at the Mariposa Art Park.  This year’s theme is “Stranger Than Fiction.”  And if that sounds familiar, well, yes, that was the theme selected for last year’s Story Slam when, unfortunately, we had to cancel due to the pandemic.  Some of you may already have a story ready to go and others may have a tale to tell after this year of mask-wearing and social distancing.

Listed below are the rules for the Slam:

  1. The storyteller must be at least 15 years of age.
  2. The story must be ‘G’ rated and less than 5 minutes long
  3. No props or costumes may be used
  4. The storyteller cannot read the story; it must be either memorized or delivered extemporaneously

To present a story at the Mariposa Story Slam, register early by phone or sign up at the registration table on May 22, 2021, at 3:30 PM.  In keeping with the guidelines suggested by the Mariposa County Health Department, we are asking all in attendance to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing.  Be aware there is no seating on the grassy hillside at the Mariposa Art Park and you will need to bring your own blanket or lawn chair.  Three notable local residents will serve as judges of both the content and delivery of the stories. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 storytellers.
