Yosemite National Park is one of the world’s premier vacation destinations. There is so much to do and see, and families love to explore the area. With more than 800 miles of trails and hiking paths, you’ll find many options that will let you explore the park.

One of the best ways to enjoy a Yosemite day hike is to join a guided tour from companies such as Redwoods in Yosemite. This company offers two great hikes that are perfect for families.

These hikes are moderate in their elevation gains, so they are easy to moderate in difficulty, so they can be perfect for anyone in good physical shape. These hikes last between two and four hours. These hikes include:

The Wawona Meadow Loop will cover about 3-1/2 miles in approximately 2-1/2 hours. You’ll meet the guide and other hikers at the trailhead that is located just next to the Wawona Hotel.

Another great hike is the Wawona Historic Swinging Bridge. This is a two-mile hike that is moderate in difficulty and lasts about two hours. You’ll meet at the Redwoods in Yosemite registration and events center.

Feeling ambitious? Combine these two hikes into a full day of hiking and exploring the Wawona area.

Hiking Half Dome

If you want to hike the iconic Half Dome, you will need to apply for a permit from the National Park Service. These permits can be obtained directly from the National Park Service website. You can also hike Half Dome with a naturalist-guide, the permits are included in the fee as are in-depth interpretative services. Yosemite Conservancy offers single and multiple-day hiking trips to summit Half Dome.

Hike With Rangers

These are multi-day trips to destinations such as May Lake, Merced Lake, Sunrise and Vogelsang. These trips are ideal for families and first-time backpackers because all meals and lodging are provided in the fee.
